Challenge is typically a single-player experience where the player plays against the system/game's AI.

Battle is a multiplayer type where players compete against a friend or random opponent to win onmo coins

Tournament is a competition type with a minimum of 3 players and no limit on a maximum number of players, in which the top 3 players are awarded ONMO Coins. An entry fee is applicable to play and a single player can enter a tournament multiple times to try and improve the score.
